Welcome to Episode 1 show notes of From Grief to Gold Podcast! I’m sharing an introduction to who Melissa Anne is and why I started this.
In this episode, I share a little bit about my experience with joining the Army right out of high school. The dreams I hoped to achieve while serving. Poor decisions. And all of the ways my life plans were flipped upside down.
My hope in sharing a little piece of my story is to build a closer connection with you. To show that grief isn’t just in death, but in the sadness of unmet expectations. Grief can come from career changes, personal growth, parenthood, etc.
This episode dives into a few areas of life where I’ve experienced grief, the years of depression I’ve been fighting through, and the final push to finally writing my book and starting this platform.
Vulnerability is not the most fun thing for me, I don’t think it is for anyone to be honest. But I know that in sharing these stories, and bringing mental health providers on as well, a difference can be made. It scares the shit out of me, just being totally real. But I’d rather dive into something scared to death than not do it at all and wonder, “what if.”
